Dog Beaches | Southern California

There are few things better than dog beaches. We’ve been taking the pups around to different beaches in order to see which ones we like best. Here are the options we have recently discovered:

  • Huntington Dog Beach | 100 Goldenwest Street, Huntington Beach, CA 92648
  • Rosie’s Dog Beach | 5000 E Ocean Blvd, Long Beach, CA 90803
  • Arroyo Burro/Hendry’s Beach | 3403 Edgewater Way Santa Barbara, CA 93109
Huntington Dog Beach was great because there was plenty of room for the dogs to run around freely. This was probably the most populated of the three dog beaches.
Before heading to Huntington Dog Beach, make a stop for brunch at Park Bench Cafe! Outdoor seating (patio or grassy area), friendly staff, and a menu just for dogs..!
We ordered the Peanut Butter Bone off the Doggie Menu at Park Bench Cafe. Mercedes be like :O Park Bench Cafe | 17732 Goldenwest St. Huntington Beach, CA 92647
We had the most fun at Rosie’s Dog Beach in Long Beach! Rosie’s was made with dogs in mind. Wash stations, trash cans, & pup statues!
Rosie’s Dog Beach | Enzo prefers to view the waves from afar.
Rosie’s Dog Beach | Mercedes prefers to bunny-hop through the waves and make new friends.
Rosie’s Dog Beach | You can find parking in the lot next to the beach, or in the cute neighborhood just across the street.
Arroyo Burro Beach (known by locals as Hendry’s) in Santa Barbara is a bit more secluded and a lot smaller than the other two mentioned above. *Be sure to type in the address we have listed in order to access the dog-friendly areas of this state beach. You will be led to a quaint neighborhood where you can park and walk to the beach. You will get lots of exercise at this one! To get down to the beach you have to manage about 100 steps.
There are a lot of rocky areas at Arroyo Burro so make sure you keep an eye on your pup if they like to climb! However, if you are worried about your dogs running off, this is probably the best option for you to enjoy because of the natural cove structure and the 9207435891734908 steps your dog would have to climb back up before you catch them.

We plan to make return visits to all three for they all had unique qualities to offer..! Let us know which one you visit, or if you have been to any other great beaches in the SoCal area!
